Reducing cognitive load through intentional design
The Tidy Up Playbook was created as a paid digital guide designed to help women move from overwhelm to clarity through a simple, supportive organizing framework. The goal was to create something that felt calm, intentional, and trustworthy — without the visual noise or over-designed aesthetic common in the category.
Because the playbook would be used independently by readers, the design needed to feel intuitive, grounding, and complete on its own.
My role
My role was to translate the creator’s vision into a cohesive visual system that could support the content — without competing with it.
The core structure and concept for the playbook were already established. From there, I led the design process: refining hierarchy, pacing, typography, and layout so the guide felt easy to move through, consistent from page to page, and aligned with the tone of the work.
Design that supports clarity — without adding noise.
The approach
Rather than treating the playbook as a series of pages, I approached it as an experience.
Spacing, margins, and restraint were used intentionally to create breathing room and reduce cognitive load. The visual system was designed to quietly support the content — guiding the reader without distraction and allowing the ideas to land with clarity.
Throughout the process, decisions were made with longevity in mind, ensuring the design could support future iterations, extensions, or companion materials.
The result
The finished playbook feels calm, structured, and purposeful — supporting the reader while reinforcing the credibility of the work itself.
The design doesn’t ask for attention; it creates space. And in doing so, it helps the content do what it’s meant to do: guide, ground, and move the reader forward with confidence.
Working with Sharon has been one of the best decisions for my business. She designed my most beloved project, The Tidy Up Playbook — a product that represents years of my work — and she made sure it was presented exactly how I envisioned it to the world.
